She was bone tired, in fact. The Autumn days had become chilly and dreary, and she was lonely - lonely for human companionship. She had no shortage of chatter, for Danica had begun to see and hear things again. At least that’s what it seemed like; she didn’t know if she was crazy or not, and she had been so sure that she had received enough counseling and blocked the chatter out so that it would never return again. She longed for a friend, an advisor, anyone who would understand. She was afraid that was never to be. Danica came from a long line of Witches, Seers, Psychics. However, it was rough for her Mother and her. They were chased out of every small town they settled in, after the townspeople used them up for their insights, natural healing methods, and psychic visions. It always turned bad; inevitably someone would get a Reading, not liking what was said because they had no desire to use their own power to take control of the situation presented and thus take control of their life. They wanted the Witch to do it for them. And sadly, Danica’s Mother Jillyan had passed on without really teaching Danica how to protect herself from the dark energies, or to hone her gifts. Danica was living in a secluded spot in a town where the people who had known her Grandmother were long dead or moved elsewhere. The sprawling old mansion that her Grandmother had left to her was full of old energies, old magicks, herbs, mortars and pestles, talismans, candles galore, drafts, and lots of Spirits. The drafts seemed to have multiplied this October evening, and Danica stoked the fire and shivered a little in her long white nightgown. She climbed into the big four poster canopy bed and prayed that the chatter would be still tonight. Danica dozed off briefly, and suddenly shivered under the thick comforter. Then she felt a creeping warmth that started at her feet. There was a weight shift on the bed, as if someone had sat down on it. She jumped up. “Hello Love. I’ve been wondering how long it would take before you took notice of me.” Danica attempted to jump up, arms and legs flailing, but the large masculine figure held her down easily. “No need for all of that Dear. I am not here to harm you. You’ve been waiting for me all of your life.” She looked up tentatively, taking in a broad shouldered male with platinum blonde hair, a strong jaw, and a sure, confident expression. For some reason Danica felt a growing sense of calm, and she knew who he was. Somehow, she knew that she had been looking and waiting for him all of her life. She also knew that he was not human, was not of this world. What in the world was going on? This was something altogether new and different. Although her pulse was racing and she was almost afraid to look him in the eyes, Danica knew that her life had just changed forever. She felt that he - whoever he was - was in control, and that perhaps her life would now take a new direction and hold some meaning. For some reason, she was excited and could not wait to see what happened next……. Just a little Halloween teaser to get us started! I really enjoyed the story. It was a creative way to share the discovery process that helps us to cross the veil. It really connected with me because i could see how we all at one time or another experience confusion while awakening. Great posting Jennifer! <3
